GRANULAR Digital Platform is live!

Apr 28, 2023 | GRANULAR, News

We are very proud to announce the launch of our project’s Digital Platform! GRANULAR Digital Platform is an online interface to visualise and analyse the datasets of interest for rural areas and rural communities.

Why a Digital Platform?

Rural areas often lack detailed data to picture their current situation and predict future trends. In GRANULAR, we help rural actors to find and easily access these data for different rural territories, and at different levels of granularity (e.g. local, regional, macro-regional).

Rural actors can benefit from the datasets the GRANULAR project will provide in our Digital Platform. These datasets are thought to help them understand their rural areas and taking decisions grounded on evidence. Moreover, as the project will be providing content from a European scope, people will be able to identify good practices from other regions.

Our platform is designed for a wide range of users. From researchers to regional and national policy makers, advisors, rural actors, Living Lab members, industry and businesses, other EU-funded Research and Innovation projects, innovation brokers, and civil society organisations.

What data can you find in our Platform?

At this moment, our Digital Platform hosts more than 50 datasets available from external sources having been identified for the needs of the work in progress in the project.

The datasets available from the GRANULAR platform cover a broad range of topics including, energy, climate and environment, mobility, digitalization, well-being and health, energy, and economic development. Metadata are used to describe each dataset. They indicate among others, who is the creator of the dataset, the dataset’s date of creation, as well as the geographic scope of data (regional, national, EU level).

Just the beginning…

The GRANULAR platform is run by the Agricultural University of Athens, and it will continue to grow in the next months and support the project’s ambitions. More datasets will become available soon, including datasets that will be created by GRANULAR partners.

To this end, we will launch targeted activities to collect users’ feedback. In the meantime, if you would like to learn more or contribute to it, don’t hesitate to get in touch with
