Addressing data gaps to evaluate the CAP Strategic Plans

Aug 21, 2023 | European news

The EU’s CAP network has released a publication titled “Addressing Data Gaps to Evaluate CAP Strategic Plans“, outlining a comprehensive approach to rectifying critical information deficiencies. The publication summarises the highlights of a Good Practice Workshop on ‘Addressing data gaps to evaluate CAP Strategic Plans’, which was organised by the European Evaluation Helpdesk for the CAP on 8-9 June 2023 in Malmö, Sweden.

CAP plays a pivotal role in shaping EU agricultural policies, ensuring sustainable rural development and food security. However, accurate data is essential for effective policy formulation and assessment. The newly released publication emphasizes the importance of filling data gaps to make informed decisions.

The document highlights strategies for acquiring, processing, and integrating data, enabling a more accurate evaluation of CAP initiatives’ impact. By involving experts, policymakers, and stakeholders, the EU aims to develop a collaborative framework for gathering precise information.

This initiative aligns with the EU’s commitment to evidence-based policymaking. As the publication sets forth guidelines to bridge data gaps, it paves the way for more resilient and effective agricultural policies across member states. The EU remains dedicated to optimizing CAP outcomes and sustainability through informed decision-making backed by reliable data.
