The French Living Lab is run by the LEADER Local Action Group “Pays Pyrénées Méditerranée”, an association of communities and local public and private stakeholders, also handling the LEADER Local Action Group. It covers a territory of 1150 km2 and approximately 110,000 inhabitants. Located near the French-Spanish border, this territory a great diversity of rural areas. It includes very touristic coastal areas with a highly seasonal occupation but with the necessity to evolve from mass tourism towards quality tourism benefiting the entire territory, as well as diversified agricultural hinterland conducive to the development of short value chains.
